My name is Michelle Maupin and I  am nineteen years old. I was born in Seoul, South Korea. I am mixed with Korean and Black. I have one sister who is 16 years old. I graduated from Albemarle High School in 2004 and have been attending Piedmont since then. I got admitted to Old Dominion University for Fall 2006 and I can't wait to leave Charlottesville. My major is education because I want to be an elementary school teacher. I haven't decided what grade I want to teach yet, but I'm beginning to think about teaching second grade. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. My weakness is shopping and I love to read, even though everyone makes fun of me for reading. I spend so much money on books it's not even funny!!! When I'm not at school, I'm at work; I work at Harris Teeter and it's an okay job. It pays really well and my sister and her best friend work there so that makes it fun.

This is my sister, April who is 16 years old. She is a junior at Albemarle High School. April wants to be a model and is trying to pursue that career. Everywhere she goes, someone is telling her that she should be a model, I hope she ends up becoming one so she can give me some money, because teacher's don't make a lot of money!!!

This is a picture of my mom and dad. They met in Seoul, South Korea when my dad was in the army. They dated for a year and then got married and had me! Unfortunately, they are no longer married. They got a divorce when I was in the 8th grade but it's all good because my sister and I have good relationships with both of them. I love them both very much.

My best friend is Ashley, I love this girl so much! She's also Korean and Black and the weird thing is, we were both born in the same hospital (an army hospital) in Korea only 4 days apart. Her parents and my parents were really good friends and so her family moved to Charlottesville shortly after we did. We went to the same high school and everything. We love telling people that story, especially because everyone says that we look so much alike.

This is Jessie, (the one on the left) my sister's best friend and we both consider her like our sister. She might as well be, we've known her for so long, and April and Jessie have been best friends since they were 3 years old. She was born in St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands) and she's mixed with Crucian and Irish. She lives 2 houses down from us, and is ALWAYS at our house but it's all good because we love her!!!
